I wanted to provide you with an update regarding ASB, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We are addressing concerns raised about ASB and damage being caused to Skegness bowling greens.
We are asking parents, carers and young people to help protect the bowling greens in Skegness.
Recently, there have been reports of children riding bikes, playing football and using the bowling greens as a play area.
Unfortunately, these activities can cause significant damage to the carefully maintained surfaces, making them unsuitable for play and affecting those who use the facility.
Bowling has been an important part of Skegness’ seaside heritage since the 1920s, when the local authority first established recreational amenities along the esplanade. The greens continue to play a key role in our community today and host prestigious events including the Skegness Over 55s Tournament Week and the EBF National Championships.
The bowling greens are specialist sporting facilities and are not designed for football, cycling or general play. We would therefore ask parents and guardians to remind children that they should not play on the greens and instead make use of appropriate nearby recreational spaces.
We are working closely with the East Lindsey District Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team and will take action where individuals are found causing damage or misusing the facility.
By respecting the greens, we can help preserve an important part of our local heritage for current and future generations.
